Why was Jamal Khashoggi killed? Why is Canada still selling arms to Saudi Arabia? What does the recent Israeli election mean for the world? Why did Donald Trump recognize the annexation of the Golan Heights? Can the nuclear deal with Iran hold without the participation of the US?
To help us understand the complex challenges and opportunities facing the Middle East, Patrick Martin – a former editor and foreign correspondent with The Globe and Mail – joins the Salt Spring Forum for a very special 2019 Forum members-only salon.
Salons are one of the benefits of being a Forum member.
Patrick Martin was in Gaza when Yasser Arafat returned to the occupied territories in 1994. He reported on four Israeli national elections, three wars in Gaza, and critical events in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
In addition to serving two stints as The Globe and Mail’s Middle East correspondent, Martin was the newspaper’s Foreign Editor and Comment Editor. Prior to joining The Globe and Mail in 1984, Martin co-hosted the national CBC Radio program Sunday Morning.
Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to spend an evening in discussion with veteran Middle Eastern reporter Patrick Martin!
To reserve your place and receive directions, 2019 Forum members are invited to register for the salon today. If you are not a current member and wish to attend, please purchase a 2019 Forum membership and then register. Donations of $20 or more are recommended at the door – to help the Forum cover the travel and other costs associated with bringing Patrick Martin to Salt Spring.
